Summary/Abstract: In a common economic space, such as the European Union, and a common monetary space, such as the eurozone, labor mobility is a key factor in their successful functioning. Labor mobility acts as an effective adjustment mechanism in conditions of economic crises and asymmetric shocks. The level of labor mobility in the European Union is at a low level. This is especially true when viewed in relation to labor mobility in the United States. In order to create the conditions for greater labor mobility in the European Union, the following measures should be taken: harmonize legislation regulating the labor market, enable equal access to social benefits and its transferability among EU countries, harmonize the qualifications of workers with market requirements, improve the qualification recognition process in all EU member states, to improve the image of the general public about the effects that the mobility of the workforce carries, both for each member state individually, and for the European Union as a whole.
