Summary/Abstract: Psychology as an academic but also applied scientific discipline has found its place in almost all aspects of human functioning, with sport being one of them. Psychological research in the field of sport was mainly focused on the study of the relationships between psychological constructs and the performance of competitors in a sport or the differences between professional and amateur athletes in relation to their personality traits, motivation, stress strategies, etc. The aim of this research is to identify the relationships between the two psychological constructs, the personality traits and the motive of achievement, with the performance of gymnastic elements on apparatus. The sample was consisted from 29 students who study at the Faculty of Physical Education in Banja Luka. The BFI-44 (John and Srivastava, 1999) was used to evaluate the personality traits of the Big Five model, MOP 2002 (Franco, Mihić and Bala, 2002) represents the operationalization of the motive of achievement, while the evaluation of the performance of gymnastic elements on the devices was performed on the basis of the criteria Petković and associates (2016). The results indicate a statistically significant correlation between persistence as a component of the achievement motive and the performance of the gymnastic elements (r (29) =. 43, p = .02), and the emotional stability and performance of the gymnastic elements (r (29) = 39 = .02). On the basis of the obtained results, it can be said that the motive of the achievements and personality characteristics of the Big Five model has a role in the success of the performance of gymnastic elements on apparatus at a certain degree, and the obtained results can be explained by the theoretical settings of the used psychological constructs, which gives a more detailed and clear insight into the predictive power of the motive of achievement and five "great" qualities.
