THE IMPORTANCE OF INVESTMENT IN NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR IMPACT ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the research of the impact of new technologies, in particular automation and robotization, on the macroeconomic indicators of the country. It is pointed out the necessity of major investments in scientific-research activities, since they contribute to the growth of quality and is a basic precondition for the development of the economy and the society as a whole. The tendency to achieve sustainable, inclusive and smart growth implies significant allocation of funds for research and development. The monitoring of the value of the investment is done through a set of indicators, of which the gross domestic expenditure on research and development is listed as% of gross domestic expenditure on research and development (GERD). The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of the situation in the EU and developed countries of the world, with a descriptive analysis of the situation in the Republic of Serbia and its position in relation to the world, based on the monitoring of the trend of allocation for research and development (% of GDP) in the period 2007-2017. years. The rapid development of technologies and new knowledge requires learning and education throughout the working life. It is therefore necessary for the institutions to ensure appropriate conditions in terms of the overall system of education and recognition of non-formal and informal education.
