Summary/Abstract: The article describes the historical development of the school subject that was first called Drawing, later Art Lessons, then Art Education and is now called Fine Art. It presents the subject’s goals, teaching content and activities, as well as the changes it experienced in a wider spatial context. The development of the subject in Slovenia from its introduction to today is placed in this wider context.
