Summary/Abstract: The article comments on two Bulgarian plays: The Prisoner of War from Trikeri, by Konstantin Mutafov, and They Say He’s not Worthy, by Stoyan Chilingirov, both of which premiered on the stage of the National Theatre in Sofia during the 1917–1918 season. The text analyses the artistic specifics through which the authors convey the experience of war. Special attention is paid to the choice of plots and denouements in the two plays. The contribution focuses on the connection between the poetics of the play The Prisoner of War from Trikeri (K. Mutafov) and the documentary evidence from the time (Vladimir Sis's book The Graves of Trikeri (1914).
