Summary/Abstract: This study examines the use of astrological symbols in medieval European art, focusing on Romanesque and Gothic cathedral sculpture. The zodiac and the labors of the months become elements that reflect cyclical time and universal order and are reinterpreted in accordance with Christian sensibilities. Frequently associated with themes such as the Last Judgment and Maiestas Domini, these symbols are a metaphor for cosmic time under divine authority. We will analyze regional iconographic variations and their integration in different stylistic contexts, including the adaptation of the subject in Byzantine art, exemplified by the Voroneț fresco. The study emphasizes the universality and relevance of these themes in the representation of time and cosmos.
