Summary/Abstract: This study presents the point of view of an external observer and his thoughts resulting from his travels across the Bulgarian lands. The analysis focuses on how the opinion of the traveler is formed. As a subject of the Hungarian kingdom, self-proclaimed Panonian Pavol Rubigal should perceive the lands of the Ottoman empire as dangerous and even forsaken by God, but this reality is contrasted with the glorious heritage of Antiquity found in this foreign space. This study presents the point of view of an external observer and his thoughts resulting from his travels across the Bulgarian lands.
