Summary/Abstract: In the last few years, the world has been preoccupied with the global problem of illegal migration, which is primarily reflected in human smugling and trafficking. The governments of a large number of countries are making efforts to combat these phenomena. The result sits in significant international treaties and conventions which the signatory countries have committed themselves to take measures and cooperate with each other in combating smuggling and trafficking in human beings. Serbia has signed the Palermo Convention and additional protocols related to the suppression of trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants. In the following text, we will clarify the concepts, legal regulations, modalities of execution and methods of detecting and combating criminal acts related to illegal migration.
