Summary/Abstract: Emergency management has as its content information that takes place at all stages of the process. What happens when misinformation appears at any time during the process is the topic of this scientific paper. Emergencies are states of very intense events, with rapid and dynamic changes and a strong reflection on the psychological characteristics of people. Fear, uncertainty, panic and uncontrolled behavior is the regular content of the behavior of almost all actors in an emergency, especially the population affected by the crisis. When, for any reason, misinformation appears about the picture of the emergency situation, then the problem becomes even more complicated. Computers and modern technologies, as a means of fast transmission of information and even fake news, and the already difficult state of crisis, further complicate and burden. The information must be timely, true and verified, because it is a necessary condition for the manageable functioning of the protection and rescue system, as well as a necessary condition for the desirable positive behavior of people in an emergency situation. Incorrect information gives bad decisions, and that, in addition to the non-implementation of the Plan, leads to numerous other disorders in the behavior of the participants in the process. Negative impact on the population affected by the emergency situation cannot be avoided, fear, panic and uncontrolled behavior become the dominant content of the situation on the ground.. Unknowingly, they become victims of misinformation, consuming news they did not recognize as fake. The sensationalist approach of the media must not disrupt the essence of emergency management and create a secondary disaster, such as panic, from which other disasters can arise. In light of existing technological advances, the public expects almost instantaneous information on the accident and related activities. Providing accurate and timely information, as well as monitoring this activity, are key to the success of the response and recovery, as it eliminates the possibility of misinformation and various rumors influencing the public.
