The collective village gatherings in Prilepsko Pole and Mariovo as a potential for the development of cultural tourism

Summary/Abstract: his paper examines the possibilities of collective village gatherings, i.e. monastery and village gatherings, in the villages of Prilep Region and Mariovo, to be promoted in tourist offers for cultural and religious tourism, for which there is great potential. Many of the monasteries and village gatherings, organized by church/village/monastery administrations, have already gained a large attendance with the mere presentation of various traditional folk customs, accompanied by traditional songs, dances and instruments. At the same time, some collective village gatherings are almost on the verge of disappearance and extinction. All this is seen from an ethnological-anthropological and folkloristic scientific aspect in order to improve the factual situation of collective village gatherings that have enormous significance for the local population. Although the paper deals with the region of Prilep Region and Mariovo, the presented facts and conclusions can, to a large extent, also serve for most regions in Macedonia.
