Summary/Abstract: Despite their advantages, territorial jobs are struggling to attract Territorial jobs have undeniable advantages to stand out on the job market. These are jobs that are rooted in the concrete, meaningful and established in a territory. In addition, these functions can perfectly suit the professional aspirations of those who want to work in project mode, want a short hierarchical chain, or are interested in digitalization and innovation. However, for the time being, these advantages do not yet make it possible to sustainably remedy a decline in attractiveness. In small municipalities, this decline, with the difficulties it causes in filling positions, contributes to fueling the disenchantment of mayors. In research on this issue, the main causes of the crisis that the local public sector is going through are identified. In particular, it states, at the end of an annual study, that "39% of territorial employers said they were having difficulty attracting candidates" in 2021, i.e. 9 points more than in 2015.
