Summary/Abstract: Economic migrations of the young generation have given rise to a new concept: Euro grandparents. Left behind in Poland, seniors face different aspects of loneliness and loosening up the relationships with their grandchildren. Some of them try to maintain long-distance relations with the youngest generation, which is made possible by their digital competence. The paper presents different ways in which Polish seniors maintain relationships using modern technologies. The research method was a multi-case study with an in-depth interview (IDI). The results show that the senior respondents are very interested in using modern information and communication technologies (ICT) to communicate with their grandchildren living abroad. They are digitally competent in different areas, which is helped by their life-long and peer-to-peer learning. They use these technologies mainly to learn the foreign languages of their grandchildren, maintain close relationships with them and pass on norms and values connected with Polish culture and history.
