Summary/Abstract: In the article I discuss Richard Mordarski’s defense of theism against the so-called divine hiddenness argument by John L. Schellenberg. I aim to show that theists are not justified in claiming that there are certainly no nonresistant nonbelievers. My argument relies primarily on epistemological analyses, and I pay particular attention to the process of acquiring religious beliefs (and more broadly, worldview beliefs) through the testimony of a witness or authority. Among other things, I argue that if we consider the average Christian to be cognitively reliable, then we cannot exclude the possibility that the modern atheist, living in a secularized Western society, is also cognitively reliable.
