Summary/Abstract: The twilight of modern civilization actualizes the reflexive empathy of the phenomenon of the eschatological nature of worldview, correlated in the historical and cultural retrospective of the intellectual field with the socio-cultural community of the Russian intelligentsia. A thinking person faces infinity, but builds his concepts, relationships and actions in the perspective of the finite destinies of the world and himself. The discourse on the (self)identity of the intelligentsia is ambivalent, the transhistorical nature of its existence in the cultural landscapes of civilization and the focus in its spiritual search on the categories of the transcendental order determines the need to expand methodological strategies that incorporate both general scientific research methods and approaches developed in theological science, for example, the apophatic method, the analysis of which is expressed in this article. The antinomy of the Russian intelligentsia is reflected in the historical canvas and intellectual space of the sophiological debates of the 20th century, which are considered in the text, revealing the dichotomy of the boundaries of the ecclesiastical and secular, theological and philosophical content in the semantic field of the discourse on the (self)identity of the religiously oriented intelligentsia. The basis of the spiritual mission of the intelligentsia in the context of permanent transformations of (self)identification models, in the conditions of the dominance of secular and agnostic mindsets of society, can be the general criterion of conciliarity — the idea of unity in multiplicity, realized as a co-event of communication, the quintessence of the dialogicity of consciousness of the modern era, the tragedy of disunity in which is so obvious.
