Summary/Abstract: In an attempt to ensure a greater amount of wellbeing of employees, it is necessary to gain a better insight into the structure of motivation, as well as patterns of employee organizational commitment. The Self-determination theory (STD) (Deci and Ryan, 1985) is a multidimensional conceptualisation of motivation that has proven very useful in explaining the organisational behaviour after it had been applied in the sectors of education, healthcare, sports, etc. The SDT is the essence of presupposition of the existence of a continuum between the controlled and autonomous behaviour described by the degree in which the external regulation is internalised. The aim of this research is to analyse the contribution of the dimension of motivation and loyalty variable in explaining employee satisfaction. The total of 1068 respondents (488 men and 580 women) participated in the research, their average age being 39.54 years (SD=8.32). The following questionnaires were applied: Revised Motivation at Work Scale, Organizational Commitment Scale and Job satisfaction Scale. The results of the multiple regression analysis indicate that the set of predictor variables explains the 44.7% of the total variance of job satisfaction (R2 =.047, F(7,1035)=119,76, p context for the improvement of the organisational behaviour of employees and employee satisfaction.
