Summary/Abstract: The Ninth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement was held in Belgrade from September 4 to 8, 1989, and although it did not lead to major political shifts, it significantly impacted the city's urban development. Media speculated extensively on the summit's costs, while official figures remained unclear until various state institutions released budget reports estimating total expenses at approximately $12.5 million, with over $5 million covered by donations from member states. These donations, particularly from Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Iraq, played a crucial role in easing Yugoslavia’s financial burden during the event's organization.
