Summary/Abstract: With the dissolution of the Soviet Union and Finland’s new status on foreign policy arena, one can assume that the term ‘Finlandization’ should have disappeared from the diplomatic usage. However, the reality shows that it is still present in the terminology of international relations even though it tends to appear in a slightly different form from classical term: neo-Finlandization. The concept needs some clarification though. By using unstructured interviews, document analysis and press coverage, the present article systematizes and analyses the concept of neo-Finlandization in a manner that explains the logic of its use in contemporary international system.
