Interview with Barnabás Csongor

Summary/Abstract: Barnabás Csongor (1923–2018) studied Hungarian and Italian language and literature at Pázmány Péter University (later Eötvös Loránd University, ELTE), also studying Chinese, Turkish and Mongolian philology at Lajos Ligeti. From 1948 he was assistant lecturer at the Department of East Asian Studies of ELTE, becoming an adjunct in 1950 and associate professort in 1962. He was head of the Department between 1963 and 1983, where he continued to teach also after his 1991 retirement.
