Summary/Abstract: The musical film drama The Voice of Music is one of the most successful films ever made, as shown by the 5 Oscars. Almost everyone knows the story and at least one song is sure to pop out of the many famous tunes. The first half of the film is very similar to other “governess” stories, but unlike the others, the plot is largely based on events that took place. The pedagogical message of the film is obvious and clear to almost everyone in many respects, yet it is worth examining the educational methods associated with the initially radically different character of the two protagonists. The characters’ instinctive and psychological parenting approaches, on the one hand, contain non-trivial details and connections that, when approached with a scientific theoretical background, the film can become even more interesting for multiple viewing. At least as exciting is the confrontation and friction between different didactic approaches and the analysis of the parties ’methods of handling disputes. Since the film takes place in 1938, due to the significant changes that have taken place in education since then, the subject of the film can also be placed and examined in the context of educational history. As a teacher, the XXI. In the twentieth century, we wonder whether the education of children can work with a drill based on pure discipline and military rigor when modern didactic principles point towards cooperative learning, and education itself is gaining less and less ground in pedagogical work. But can indulgent, playful learning work in all circumstances? Is it possible that there are useful elements in each of them and somewhere between the two extremes can there be a universal method of education? It is conceivable, however, that the character and personality traits of a teacher are likely to remain largely determinants in traditional (non-digital) education for a long time to come. Even if not necessarily in the form of melodies, but each of them remembers an educational sentence from one of our more characterful teachers about our previous school.
