Summary/Abstract: Trafficking in cultural property and artefacts is a multi-layered crime with complex interrelationships and criminal acts. The scale of illegal trafficking not only supports activities that threaten the safety of European citizens, but can also cause irreparable damage to our cultural heritage and diminish our common identity. The fight against the trafficking of cultural assets and artefacts therefore requires additional joint and sustained efforts from a wide range of stakeholders within the European Union and beyond.
