Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt at sketching “a personal genealogy” of Wanda Wasilewska. Referring to Michel Foucault’s lectures on “revolution which becomes an existential project,” the author frames Wasilewska neither as an icon, a monument of the Communist coup nor as a symbol of national betrayal, but instead as “a living human being,” an actress of social life, located in historical and cultural context and determined by that very context. The author reconstructs the process of shaping the Communist identity, points to the moments of transgressing subsequent boundaries: gender, national, social, and uncovers gradual experiencing by the protagonist of the limits of the Communist transgression.
