Summary/Abstract: The latest trends and research show that public relations are a women dominated profession. This paper, to be precise the theoretical part of it, enumerates some of the various definitions of public relations and presents its place in the modern business world. It also presents papers which show that women dominate in the PR profession and that they choose these studies and the profession more frequently than men. However the glass ceiling effect prevents them from reaching the top ranks of management in corporations, institutions, parties and states. We also discuss the advantages and drawbacks of women in the communication process. A research on visibility and importance of women in PR profession was done. As regards methodology, a survey was conducted on a sample of 161 examinees. The advantages and disadvantages of women in verbal and non-verbal communication, prejudice that women are faced with and the influence of gender identity on the ability to convey clear messages important for mutual understanding in some organizations and its publicities were in the focus of the research.
