Summary/Abstract: Vasile Băncilă (1897-1979), originally from Brăila, volunteer in the First World War, graduate of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Bucharest, graduate promotion1922, professor of pre-university education in Brăila and Bucharest, contributor to the prestige of the culture magazine – ”Gândirea” and ”Gând Românesc”, was dismissed from education in 1948, then pursued or supervised by security until the last year of his life. The present study is based on the research of the file obtained from the N. C. S. S. A. (National Council for the Study of Security Archives), Informative Fund Archive, File I 163503.In this study we deal only with the last five-six years of the philosopher's life when, although old and ill, he was still considered dangerous to the organs of repression. It is true that the use of informants has weakened in recent years, but the violation of correspondence continues to be practiced by security officers. The letters received and sent by the philosopher are meticulously transcribed by the agency and filed, then put back into circulation. From the analysis of the documents in the file, it results that the pressure of the security organs on the philosopher manifests itself differently from one year to another: more relaxed periods, in which Vasile Băncilă seemed somewhat forgotten, followed by more tense ones, in which the informative actions intensify. The cycle of the last 5-6 years of the philosopher's life (1974- 1979), which interests us in this study, was opened by the initiative of some graduates of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy (1919 series) to organize a promotional meeting in Bucharest, which took place in 1975.
