Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the manual How to Learn Russian?, published by Stjepan Radić in Zagreb in 1905, in order to answer the question of what kind of methodologist and pedagogue Radić was and what his role was in the history of foreign language teaching (especially Russian) in Croatia. The paper concludes that Radić was an excellent pedagogue for his time with excellent knowledge of the Russian language and its grammar, and that he was guided by the desire to simplify the principles of learning and to bring the Russian language and Russian culture closer to speakers of the Croatian language of all three dialects (and also the Serbian language). Therefore, his manual, for the time in which it was written, can be called extremely modern.
