ATHEISM AND RELIGIOSITY IN PSYCHOANALYSIS

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the attitude towards religion and the possibility of the coexistence of separate currents in psychoanalysis despite the differences on the fundamental question of God and belief in him. The positions of significant authors of psychoanalysis such as Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung and Erich Fromm are presented in the text. It focuses on the disputes and relations between the first two, as vivid representatives of two opposing worldviews regarding religion, as well as on the results of their work on the future of psychoanalysis and their influence on culture in general. Opinions and evaluations of their contemporaries, colleagues and followers are also shared
