Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the features and significance of the column ”Ratings and Re- views” which was an integral part of the composition of Letopis Matice Srpske (a maga- zine published by Matica Srpska) in the period from 1912 to 1914, when this magazine was edited by Tihomir Ostojic. This column was devoted to literary criticism of mostly current literary production, i.e. artistic creativity (poetry, prose and drama) was closely followed and evaluated, but also the results in the field of literary history (assembled editions were presented), while the practice of anthology and translation was considered at the same time. Although interdisciplinarity has been a key feature of Letopis Matice Srpske since its inception until today, the column ”Ratings and Reviews” was the most literary column (literary in the narrower sense of the word) at the time when the maga- zine was edited by Ostojic, and the value ratings given in the reviews published in this column are indicated as important and relevant in today’s science of literature (value judgments are a reflex of the moment when literary works were published and when they were judged, but also, these judgments have not lost their importance even a century and a decade after they were expressed and solidly argued, which reflects their literary and historical significance). Letopis Matice Srpske was open to all poetic orientations, to already established writers and scientists, but also to beginners. The column ”Ratings and Reviews” is a reflection of the refined literary taste of both the collaborators and the editor himself, but also a metonymy of the openness of Letopis Matice Srpske, i.e. avoiding poetic, generational and any other exclusivity, providing the opportunity for creators of different viewpoints to publish their achievements, in which one notices the transhisto- rical feature and one of the most important features of this magazine, which has been continuously published for two centuries.
