Summary/Abstract: This study examines a relatively obscure Modern Bulgarian Damaskin, which is housed in a book depository outside of Bulgaria. Known in academic circles as the Berlin Damaskin (Berl. Slav. Fol. 36), it is part of a vast collection of historical manuscripts and old printed books from the former Prussian State Libraly in Berlin. Currently, this manuscript, with its intriguing history, is preserved in the Jagiellonian Library in Kraków, Poland. The opportunity to work with the manuscript de visu allowed us to focus on one particular aspect, the dating of the codex, and also to indicate tasks and perspectives for future research to be done. The aim of the research, based on notes, inscriptions and watermarks, is to prove the hypothesis of the dating of the monument in the chronological framework 1791–1803 in a substantiated way. At the same time, we will attempt to narrow these frames using known watermark albums and electronic resources for comparison.
