Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the history of the Library of Bitola, identified by its seal reading “Manastır kütüphanesine mevkufdur 1314” (“Endowed to the Library of Bitola 1314”), found in numerous Islamic manuscripts and printed books held by the National and University Library “St. Clement of Ohrid” in Skopje. The library’s name and the number of books bearing its stamp indicate that it was one of the most significant and richest libraries in Bitola at the end of the 19th century. This study aims to establish the library’s identity based on extant historical sources and modern research on the history of librar- ies in Bitola, alongside the records and stamps found in manuscripts and printed books in the Oriental Collection. The analysis of these records and relevant modern research leads to the conclusion that the Library of Bitola was located within the Ishaq Chelebi endowment complex and was popularly known as Intifa Library. It is proposed that the library, established at the end of the 19th century as the first public library in Bitola, may have been a successor to the Library of Ishaq Chelebi, founded in the early 16th century.
