Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is the analysis of court actions in based on the model of court pre-trial proceedings in Polish criminal law. Considerations begins with introduction on the issue of stages of the model of criminal process. Then, the elements of the Polish model of judical control of pre-trial proceedings between the years 1918–1997. Next, the role of court actions in pre-trial proceedings resulting from current wording of the Act of 6 June 1997 the Code of Criminal Procedure is analysed. In the final part of the article, the Author comes to de lege lata and de lege ferenda conclusions which indicates that Polish criminal proceedings needs to be changing by introducing a new investigative body – independent judge for pre-trial proceedings and identyfying the proper role of such body.
