Summary/Abstract: This article elaborates on the idea of dystopia and cacotopia as concepts in literature and especially their manifestations in Albanian literature. In the entire corpus of Albanian literature, there is only one author whose works consistently evoke a dystopian atmosphere: Ismail Kadare. As the main work of this kind of writing, this article discusses the novel The Palace of Dreams by Ismail Kadare. Focusing on the concept of dystopia, we’ll discuss the context that brought this novel to life.
