Summary/Abstract: Objective: Popularizing scientifically unsupported content is becoming increasingly commonin the era of global access to the Internet. Identifying and proving the falsity of psychological mythsshould be an important element of education for people studying to become psychologists. The following study examined whether there are differencesin identifying psychological myths between students of psychology and other majors.Method: The study involved 331 people, including 132 psychology students and 199 students of other majors. A questionnaire based on the work of Lilienfeld et al. (2017) was used to determine belief in psychological myths, consisting of 17 statements – 10 myths and 7 facts, the veracity of which was assessed by the respondents using an online survey. The results were analyzed using the Student's t-test statistic for independent samples. Results: The respondents' responses indicated a small difference between the means of correct answers among the groups of psychology students and other fields of study, along with a moderate effect size. Conclusion: The results confirmed the hypothesis that psychology students believe less in psychological myths. However, the study showed that incorrect identification of popular psychological myths among young people is common and may indicate the need for didactic intervention.
