Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the issue of classical dramaturgy and its significance in the development of dramaturgical art, performing arts, and the evolution of the theoretical concepts related to constructing the dramatic work. The research methodology is based on the cultural-historical research method, highlighting the meaning of the concept of „classic”, the role of classicism in the development of the theory of creating dramatic works, contemporary studies that examine the interplay betweenclassical traditions and modernity. We come to the conclusion that the theory and art of constructing a classical dramaturgictext, the conception at the level of plot structures and image of such a work of art contribute to the revealing of the theoretical poetics of the drama and, respectively to the analysis of the contemporary theatrical discourse, based on classical dramaturgy.
