Summary/Abstract: In essence, the fundamental human right to life encompasses the right to privacy. For this reason, any approach to such an issue is likely to bring together two components: a general one, referring to the human right to life in general, and a special one, specifically addressing the human right to private life. The right to personal data protection is examined in correlation with the right to respect for private life. The protection of personal data is crucial for the exercise of the right to respect for private and family life, as guaranteed by Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 7 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
