Culture as an Order (among the Plurality) of Values

Summary/Abstract: The article presents a concept according to which the distinctiveness of a given culture isdetermined by the order of values arranged in it in a specific way. First of all, the article consid-ers how to emphasize the functional and dynamic aspect of the arranging of values. For thispurpose, the notion of performativity has been included with the concept. Second, the articleproposes to distinguish three ways of establishing relationships between values: hierarchization,intertwining, and distancing. Third, the article distinguishes the basic axiological assumptionson which the idea of culture as the ordering of values is based. In this regard, exceptionallycrucial was the question whether this concept entails a position of axiological pluralism.
