Summary/Abstract: F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Gatsby is in a constant quest for ownership - from accumulating wealth to winning Daisy over. This paper aims to briefly examine the question of ownership in The Great Gatsby, with regards to assets and people, particularly through the contrast between Gatsby’s material possessions and his desire for emotional ownership of Daisy, taking into account the partnerships and love triangles that appear between the characters, as reflections of various power dynamics.
