Summary/Abstract: This article examines Antoine de Saint Exupéry's anti-modern, anti-ironic positions, whose writings castigate the irony of a suspiciousattitude towards customs, ceremonial and, more generally, tradition. It proposes to identify the targets of Exupéry's criticism, these« dunces » or these « ink spitters » – Camus, Sartre, the surrealists– and to measure how this ideological tension participates in SaintExupéry's anti-modernism (based on the work of Antoine Compagnon).
