Summary/Abstract: This article addresses the question of intersubjectivity in business letters in Romancelanguages and offers certain pertaining aspects, such as reflexivity or indexicality. Itpinpoints that intersubjectivity is understood reflexively, mostly at the level of addressformulas and honorifics. On the one hand, it shows the symmetry and reciprocity ofrelations between the participants. On the other hand, it stresses that the business letterin the Romance languages is built on the appreciation of the other, in the sense shownby the reflexivity of the relations between the participants in the communicative act. Itaims at identifying different linguistic mechanisms and linguistic elements such asmodal/semi-modal verbs, verbal expressions with hortative meaning, incidentalexpressions, elliptical structures, adverbs of manner, emphasizing intersubjectivity inbusiness letters in Romance languages.
