Paulinus of Nola and the Cult of Relics: True Cross and St Felix

Summary/Abstract: Based on the available sources, the paper analyzes Paulinus of Nola’s viewpoints of the cult of relics. Firstly, his general views of the cult of saints and the cult of relics are considered, since these two late antique and medieval phenomena are interconnected. In the central part of the paper, his theological views are presented through two specifc examples, well documented in existing sources: True Cross and the body of St Felix.
