Summary/Abstract: This article attempts to differentiate and characterize the two ideal‑typical approaches in oral history research: biographical and thematic. After an initial distinction, the text compares them in several areas: from the choice of the topic to the selection and approaching of narrators, to the negotiation of collaborations, to the recording, analyzing, and interpreting of the conducted oral history interviews. In doing so, it seeks to capture the specifics of each of these and highlight the possible risks they entail.
