Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the threats resulting from exposure to natural UV radiation (ultravioletradiation) and presents an overview of the results of studies conducted in various places aroundthe world and concerning the impact of urban green infrastructure on the level of this radiation.In addition, a spectroradiometric method of measuring natural UV radiation was presented –associated with the plant parameterization using the leaf area index (LAI), determined on the basisof hemispherical images – and the results of measurements carried out in the urban environmentwith different levels of tree cover. These measurements were performed as part of a project carriedout at the Central Institute for Labour Protection – National Research Institute, and their resultsconfirmed that urban green infrastructure reduces UV radiation and, consequently, reduces therisks to human health in urban agglomerations.
