From Observations on the Dynamics of the Lexical-Semantic System of the Central Podollian Dialects

Summary/Abstract: The dynamics of language is expressed in dialects due to their non-codification, the oral form of existence, the complexity of the history of each dialect and the society that uses the dialect, due to which the weight of non-speech factors in the formation and functioning of dialects increases. The aim of the paper is to observe the dynamics of the lexical-semantic system of modern Central Podollian dialects, which we have compared with the corresponding linguistic facts codified in lexicographic and linguogeographic works. We also have tested a method of the Polish researcher E. Serotsyuk, who substantiates the possibilities of studying dynamic processes in a language not only on a diachronic section but also on a synchronous one. For this purpose, residents of 3 generations from the modern village were interviewed according to a single program. The fixed empirical material has confirmed dynamic processes of at all structural levels of the dialect.
