Summary/Abstract: The author relates the challenges to taxes, perceived as unfair and excessive, from a historical point of view, and the adaptation of legislation in order to combat tax fraud. Different historical revolts are thus studied, which allow a questioning of the legitimacy and excessiveness of taxes and demonstrates this feeling of aversion to taxes that has persisted in France for a long time and that still remains today.
