Summary/Abstract: During preadolescence years, the needs of socialization and affiliation are as strong as the needs for self-esteem and social status. The social group provides valuable opportunities for preadolescents to better know themselves, efficient management of their emotions, and control their behavior. However, the challenges in this stage are many. Physical and psychological changes amplify their sense of being different from others, even inadequate. Anxiety in this period is a frequent emotional state, having consequences on multiple levels: cognitive, social, academic. As they interact with others, they improve their perspective on themselves, the world, and life in general.
