Summary/Abstract: Pavel Materna, a renowned Czech logician, philosopher, and musician, passed away at the age of 94. His contributions to Transparent Intensional Logic (TIL) were significant, including the development of an original theory of concepts. Materna's work in natural-language processing and procedural semantics for hyperintensional logic earned him international recognition and numerous awards. He was also a talented pianist, known for his performances at conferences and his ability to play a wide range of musical pieces. Materna's legacy in both logic and music will be remembered fondly by his colleagues and friends.
