Summary/Abstract: In the context in which cross-border crime is becoming increasingly complex and interconnected, the European investigation order provides the national authorities of the member states of the European Union with the necessary legal means to achieve international cooperation in criminal matters, by obtaining evidence efficiently and through a simplified procedure. This article addresses the issue of obtaining evidence in a criminal trial by means of this innovative instrument regulated in European Union law, aiming to highlight the main general characteristics
