The tambourine of the vase "Hadji Ahil"

Summary/Abstract: The text focuses on some of the evolutionary processes related to the emergence of the modern Bulgarian tambura. The emphasis is on a previously unstudied specimen from the mid-19th century. The study does not claim to be exhaustive, but in general terms presents one of the aspects of the modernization of this type of instrument - a process occurring with variable activity over the last one hundred and thirty years.
