Summary/Abstract: The article offers a comparative analysis and reading-interpretation of Fr. 591R of the highly fragmented tragedy of Sophocles Tereus, which would allow a reconstruction of the plot and some of the basic religious philosophical implications of the work. It is dominated by the idea of the unity of origin of the human race and the equality of people by birth. The unambiguous Orphic doctrinal and religio-philosophical tonality allows the few extant verses of Sophocles' tragedy to be deciphered in the context ofsurviving Orphic texts. The analysis is systematized into three main thematic groups: 1). The Orphic anthropogonic motif; 2) The Orphic theme of the brevity of human life, filled with misfortunes and sufferings, as well as with unexpected twists and turns; 3). The Destiny Theme (Moira). The doctrinal and religious-philosophical tonality in the few preserved fragments of the tragedy of Sophocles Tereus, which have survived over the centuries, deciphered in the context of the Orphic texts, give sufficient grounds for reflection and hypotheses in the direction of the unity of the human race by origin, the brevity of human life. No one is born better than another. But fate offers misery to some, and prosperity to others, and places others under the forced burden of slavery.
