Summary/Abstract: The Museum of Herzegovina in Mostar was founded in 1950. Through its departments, it treats the scientific field of archeology, history, ethnology and literature of Herzegovina. The establishment represented a great cultural progress for Mostar and Herzegovina. During the destruction of war, in the period from 1992 to 1995, cultural heritage was massively destroyed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Museums were also disappearing, as well as their complete collections. The Museum of Herzegovina Mostar is one of them. It was left without the central museum object, which was completely devastated, and all other objects with settings and collections suffered enormous damage and destruction. In addition to the concern, primarily of Museum workers, the wider community later became involved in saving valuable exhibits and collections from the whirlwind of war, which unfortunately only partially succeeded. Cultural heritage is targeted for destruction, i.e. its destruction was not a consequence of the war but the goal of the war.
