Summary/Abstract: The life of concepts is “variegated” in meaning. In each historical period they reflect different givens in accordance with the evolution of phenomena. Sometimes they are named with one, identical (for many languages), and in other cases – with other, different (for individual languages) words. In certain cases the words remain “basic”, and in others – undergo a radical change. Such can be the example with the concept and the word for accompaniment – accompaniment, instrumental, synback. With what has been said, I introduce the following statement. The word accompaniment originates from Slavic languages. In the Bulgarian language, the word accompaniment1, which has a Latin root, is used with a synonymous meaning. From it is the “borrowing” in most European languages. For example – accompagnement – French, accompagnamento – Italian. The concept of accompaniment/accompaniment has an equivalent meaning in other languages: begleitung – German, Συνοδεια (synody)– Greek, etc.
