Summary/Abstract: In this paper we propose to discuss some of the main data found in literature on autism. We have also included a study conducted among parents of children with autism from Bihor county (Romania) and among specialists who work with these children to assess the major needs of the children and their families, as well as to look at the socioeconomic implications of autism.
